The Anime Site
Welcome to my very own Anime Site!!
A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF ANIME
Anime (usually pronounced "anna-may"; the correct form is "ahh-nee-may"), this creative, stunning, and enchanting form of animated entertainment (from the French word "animé", meaning "animation"), has fascinated the world ever since the late 1950s, ever since its beginning after the World War II period. Japanese animation, or Japanimation, or anime, whichever name you prefer, is very popular among teens, kids, and adults of all religions, races, ages, shapes, and sizes (one of the biggest reasons of its popularity). Characterized by large eyes, sailor suits, sweat drops, anatomical exposure (and how!) and flamboyant, exaggerated facial expressions, anime cartoon and movie characters delight the eyes of all avid viewers and have been going on strong for a very long time.
What exactly is anime, you ask? Well, Japanimation is a form of animated entertainment that is made in Japan and broadcasted in Japan and exported here to the USA and lots of other countries worldwide. The very first anime series (with a continuing plot), called Astro Boy (the adventures of a slick-haired, high-flying, crime-fighting space child), debuted in 1963, and lasted for many episodes (his adventures continue in mangas and in new series). This one cartoon started the anime wave/revolution in Japan and in the United States. Before Astro Boy, the world's very FIRST anime series was Manga Calendar, produced in 1962 -- one year before A.B.. Some of the very best in anime (series) titles include: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Fushigi Yuugi, Noir, Dragon Ball [Z, GT], Bubblegum Crisis [Tokyo 2040], Trigun, Mobile Suit Gundam [all series], Slayers [Next, Try], Flame of Recca, Rurouni Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo!, Escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain, Blue Seed, and tons, tons more.
Anime, a category in its own right, has many genres. No matter what you're into -- if you like fast, shoot-'em-up action, or sci-fi space mechas, or medieval/ancient Japanese adventures, or intense martial arts/kick-butt competition, or even mushy romances -- anime, without a doubt, has something for you.
Here on these various pages you will find some of my very own mini-fan pages that I created for my favorite anime series. For nearly all these pages, I have faithfully watched hours and hours of episodes, and taken notes on some of the series. Some pages may not be as complete as others, but will be updated in the future. Each mini-site includes fun facts about the corresponding series, character descriptions, all-new picture galleries*, episode guides, and many other cool things. Please check these out, and if you have any valuable info, suggestions, questions or feedback, feel free to contact me at one of my e-mail addresses, found on the homepage (or click here to send mail to my Yahoo! address).
So, if you're an otaku (a mega-enthusiast and lover of anime), you've come to the right place.
And now, on to the anime!! Click on one of the pictures (or the title) on the left sidebar to enter the page. Don't forget to check out the right sidebar for upcoming anime pages!
